Home Revisions with Your Help!

Thank you so much for your contributions. As you can clearly see we have started the revisions on Chris’s home. The new portable ramp purchased with your contributions allowed Chris to enter his home. He will also be able to use the ramp traveling to his friends’ homes. A photo shows Chris arrived at his home finding the existing blue stone walkway had been removed. We surveyed the site and prepared custom made concrete forms for the sidewalk exceeding all ADAAG guidelines. The completed sidewalk will give Chris access to 3 sides of his home which is very important to person who enjoys the outdoors, nature and the pleasant weather in Wake Forest. Buck and Ronnie donated valuable time and machinery making it easier moving the 18 tons of rock to fill in the base of the sidewalk. Special thanks to Joe, John, Dave, Mike, Steve, Andrew, Mom, Dad, Joanne, Darin, Buck, Ronnie, and Joel for your labor and time on Saturday. Steve from La Foresta Italian Café & Pizzaria in Wake Forest (919) 554-4555 was kind to donate the delicious pizza for the crew! Unfortunately, we depleted our rock supply and daylight on Saturday before we were able to finish, so we called it quits. On Sunday, we continued to build an additional concrete form from the sidewalk leading into the parking area. More neighbors Steve, Scott, Lynn, and Della came to help with support and construction. Steve and Scott did an awesome job resetting brick pavers outside the sliding door giving another access point to the yard for Chris. (Sorry no photo yet). Again, special thanks to them as well as Bob, Steve, John, Dave, Joe, Joanne, Mom and others that I may not be aware coming to help on Sunday. Compliments to the cook Joanne for the ribs, beans, rolls and drinks on Sunday.
One more load of rock and we should be ready for the concrete truck to come. That will be a heck of a work day!
